The AMA has announced via a press release the fact that it is pledging $100,000.00 to help fund a governmental study on motorcycle crashes. The Federal Government has pledged up to 2.8 million dollars in matching funds for the same study. In other words, the Feds will match (up to 2.8 million dollars) whatever the AMA and the motorcycle community kicks in for the Study.

It is no secret that the number of motorcycle crashes and fatalities has gone up significantly in the past few years and it is raising eyebrows all over the nation.

This study would be the first of its kind in the last 25 years and could lead to valuable information on what is really going on out there.

The Congress has said that it is not looking for theories; it is looking for facts with regard to this study.

The AMA has started the “Fuel the Fund” Program so that they can obtain the full amount of Federal matching funds for the study. They are asking all bikers to kick in a dollar amount that would equal a tank of gas, so that they can come up with the 2.8 million dollars to get the full Federal matching money for the study. You can check out the AMA program here, and you can contribute your tank of gas to the program here.

I highly recommend that all bikers and motorcyclist contribute what would cost a tank of gas to this program, because this study could in the end help us all to be safer on the road, and give us facts as to what is really going on out there.
