I wonder how many accidents have been caused by distracted drivers on cell phones. It common sense were all that is needed by society, we would not need laws.

Everyone ignores them. But here is the twist, the law said you can’t use a phone while driving, now we all thought that meant you had to use a hands free kit. But when it was tested in court the judge ruled that the act of answering a call even with a hands free kit was using the phone while driving so the fine and demerit points stand. That virtually killed the hands free kits overnight. So the people said if we are going to be busted anyway then there is no point getting a hands free kit. I think it is much safer to use a hands free kit…but the “tough new laws” just mean the average joe ignores them because there is very little chance of getting caught and saves the cost of the kit? I hope in CA they learn from our mistakes.
