Thank you for a great post. I absolutely love to ride my own motorcycle and would highly recommend "anyone" interested to take the MSF course. If you're not sure if this is the sport for you, that course is the best way to find out.

I have a Yamaha V-Star 650 and at 5'2" is works real well. I have taken it over the highest mountain pass here in Colorado with no problem. My husband has his own motorcycle and we get out together often. But if he can't, I still do. I also do my errands and go to work on it. It's especially nice now with the high price of gas.

I think Harley's are very cool, but I have been hearing lately that the sportster isn't well like here by beginners. They all say it's top heavy and end up trading it in quickly. They suggest not wasting your money on that model. If you're wanting a Harley, there are others to consider. Or start on a different smaller brand, like what I have, and then get the Harley once you've had sufficient of miles under you.

I DID GO THROUGH THE MSF COURSE AND MY FIRST MOTORCYCLE IS THE HARLEY SPORTSTER
LOWRIDER. I AM A BIG GERMAN GIRL, 5'8 185 POUNDS (WEIGHT LIFTER) AND CAN HANDLE
THE SPORTSTER QUITE EASILY. IVE BEEN RIDING MINE FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND ARE READY
TO MOVE UP. I DO BELIEVE WOMAN RIDERS HAVE A TON OF RESPECT FOR THE BIKE AND ROAD
SINCE WE HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE OF BEING A PASSENGER AND KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT
CAN HAPPEN AND HOW QUICK CONDITIONS CAN CHANGE ON YOU.

I DO SEE A SMALLER WOMAN HAVING A HARD TIME HANDLING EVEN AN 883 WEIGHTING CLOSE TO
600LBS. AND MAYBE A SMALLER BIKE TO BEGIN WITH IS WISE FOR HER AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD
AROUND HER.

I CHOSE TO BUY MY OWN BIKE BECAUSE I DIDNT WANT TO SIT ON BACK ANYMORE, I WANTED
TO BE IN CONTROL OF MY OWN RIDE AND ENJOY THE WIND AND THRILL OF ROARING DOWN
THE ROAD DOING 60 MILES AN HOUR WITH ME HOLDING ON TO THE HANDLEBARS.

THE BEST THING MY HUSBAND AND I DID FOR US WAS BUY OUR OWN BIKES, AT AGE 50 IM LOVING
