Fixed, i have a client named Dan and i guess i transposed his name while writing. I can assure you that if the SUV was turning left it was the SUV at fault. The California vehicle code requires all persons turning left to ensure there are no oncoming vehicles. I deal with many accidents like this all of the time, plus i ride myself.

For some reason cars, trucks, and SUV’s always seem to turn left in front of or into motorcycles.

In reply to Norman Gregory Fernandez. Norm, his name was Dave, not Dan. I don't know what the witnesses saw, if there were any. I don't know the driver of the SUV. It sounds like an accident, simple and terrible, until more facts come out.

David Landowski was a friend of mine for 30 years, and he died of his injuries yesterday. I’m broken hearted for the daughter he leaves behind, whose mother died when she was young. You are so right about most drivers not being as aware of motorcyclists as they should be. I drive an SUV, and don’t see as many bikers on the road here in NJ as there likely are in Los Angeles.

But I do see them, and after this tragedy, I will be more vigilant in looking for them. Thank you for bringing attention to this. Please also keep in mind that the driver who hit Dave had no malice intent, and is likely devastated that he caused such destruction. His life was also changed irrevocably.

I regret to inform you that Mr. Landowski passed away on Sunday evening from the injuries he received in this accident. It was announced by his employer, DWP, this afternoon. He was an experienced on and off road rider. May he rest in peace.
