This year Veterans Day is today, Thursday, November 11, 2010. For those of you, like me who have served in our armed forces, thank you for your service.

There are many Iraq and Afghanistan veterans returning from the war that need jobs and our help dealing with post traumatic stress. I highly recommend donating money and time to reputable organizations that are helping these vets.

For those veterans who are still on active duty, especially in Afghanistan; God Speed.

Contrary to popular belief, Veterans Day is not about shopping bargains, or just getting a day off, it is about recognizing the service of all  who have served in our Armed Forces.

Take a little time out of your busy day today to reflect upon and thank all of those who have served in our Armed Forces.

Freedom is certainly not free.

Thanks for reminding us the real purpose for Veterans day. And you are right, this year there is an especially good reason we need to be aware of the purpose for the holiday. Lots of soldiers in need right now.
